| Reiki is based on the concept that there is an energy field surrounding
everything in our universe. The word Reiki means Universal Life Force
or Universal Energy. ‘Rei’ means ‘soul’, ‘Ki’
means ‘energy’. Reiki usually balances you, to let Life
Force flow naturally within you for your overall wellness. Dr Mikao
Usui rediscovered the ancient Tibetan healing form of Reiki in Japan.
It is now increasingly popular in the West. Reiki is spiritual but
not a belief or religion. Reiki uses neutral, concentrated cosmic
energy (Universal Life Force) to balance body, mind and spirit. It
is a powerful, safe, relaxing and therapeutic whole body treatment.
Reiki energy flows to blocked areas, charging them with positive
energy. It usually transforms negative thoughts and feelings as
it clears and heals energy paths. Some people believe that Reiki
complements traditional medical treatment.
A feeling of well-being is usually restored to the body as the
therapist draws on the purest of universal energy, which is then
used by the body to heal itself where it is needed most at that
